Battery or scan not working? A quick check clears most issues:

  • Bluetooth is on and BikeHQ has permission to use it.
  • The component is awake — press a shifter or button to wake it.
  • Your phone is near the bike and not connected to the component in another app.
  • You're on the latest version of BikeHQ and iOS.

Frequently Asked Questions

The basics on how BikeHQ works. More will be added over time.

What is BikeHQ?

BikeHQ keeps every bike you own ride-ready. Track drivetrain batteries, component wear and service intervals in one place, and check where each bike stands before you head out.

Which devices does it run on?

BikeHQ is an iPhone app and needs a recent version of iOS. There is no Android or web version.

Is BikeHQ free?

BikeHQ is free to download. The free version lets you track one bike with several components attached. The Premium version unlocks additional bikes.

Can I track more than one bike?

The free version tracks one bike. The Premium version lets you add more, each with its own components, service history and readiness status.

What does “readiness” mean?

It is a quick summary of whether a bike's components are charged, still within their wear limits and not overdue for service. Anything that needs attention is flagged so you know what to look at.

How does scanning work?

Tap Scan Now on a bike. BikeHQ connects over Bluetooth to supported components nearby and updates their battery level and status. Keep your phone near the bike while it scans.

How do I add a component?

Add it to a bike with its brand and model, then set a battery source or a wear limit so BikeHQ can track it.

How do I log a charge or a service?

Open a component and use Log Charge to record a top-up. Record a service against a component to reset its interval and add it to that bike's history.

Does it show miles or kilometres?

Distances are shown in miles.

Does BikeHQ connect to Strava?

No. BikeHQ is focused on component status, scanning and service history.
